Researchers develop dissolvable 3D-printed microneedle patch
Researchers at Queen's University Belfast developed a dissolvable 3D-printed microneedle patch designed to improve treatment for localized skin cancer by delivering two anti-cancer drugs, curcumin and 5-fluorouracil, directly into the skin without drawing blood. The team used a one-step 3D-printing method that blends both drugs into a printable resin, enabling higher drug loading, better skin penetration and a controlled two-stage release.
