Measles cases in the United States have reached 2,371 confirmed infections by the end of July, the highest total in 30 years, driven by clusters in multiple states. Delaware reported its first case in more than a decade in July and declared an outbreak after five connected cases, prompting rapid vaccination clinics and contact tracing. Declining MMR vaccination rates toward and below the roughly 95% herd-immunity threshold, pandemic-era misinformation, and weakened public health staffing from pandemic stress and funding cuts are increasing outbreak risk and placing sustained demands on public health response.
