TIFF to open with Sian Heder's Being Heumann

Sian Heder's activist drama 'Being Heumann' will open the 51st Toronto International Film Festival with a world premiere on Sept. 10 at Roy Thomson Hall, starring Ruth Madeley as disability rights advocate Judith Heumann. The film, adapted from Heumann's memoir, follows her leadership of more than 100 disabled protesters in a 28-day action to press the government to enforce the Rehabilitation Act requirement that federal spaces be accessible. TIFF also announced world premieres for 'Prima Facie' with Cynthia Erivo and Hur Jin-ho's 'The Assassin(s)'; the festival runs Sept. 10 through 20 and has not released its full lineup.
