Sundance moves festival to Boulder and expands programs

The Sundance Film Festival will relocate its 2027 edition from Park City to Boulder, Colorado, running January 21–31 with world premieres January 21–26 and a gala on January 22. Venues include University of Colorado Boulder's Macky Auditorium, Chautauqua Auditorium, Boulder Theater and the Cinemark Century multiplex, and four central competition categories will expand to 12 films each. New Frontier returns as New Frontier FLUX, FIPRESCI will present debut awards, and World Cinema Grand Jury Prize winners will be Oscar-qualifying for international feature consideration. The festival will offer online at-home screenings January 28–31 and expects over 2,000 volunteers, altering logistics and reach.

Sundance 2027 will be held in Boulder January 21–31.
