Sky to acquire ITV for $2.13 billion

4 min read

Comcast-owned Sky has agreed to buy ITV for $2.13 billion (£1.6 billion), a deal the companies say would combine Britain’s leading free-to-air broadcaster with its top pay-TV operator. ITV CEO Carolyn McCall said regulators should expect a thorough review likely to reach a phase 2 inquiry and could take 12 to 18 months. ITV stressed it would keep flagship free programming and meet public service broadcaster rules, while ITV Studios is being spun off and will sign long-term supply deals, including a guaranteed $2.81 billion (£2.1 billion) spend from 2028 to 2032.

Deal will likely face 12 to 18 months of regulatory review.
