The production spent several months on the island between late 2024 and spring 2025, employing about 500 extras and workers and generating an estimated €1 million to €2 million in local spending. Local authorities and Universal Pictures, with Sicily's culture department, plan a permanent exhibition at the former Florio tuna plant possibly opening in October, and investors have approached the municipality about luxury redevelopments ahead of the 2027 season. Officials are weighing visitor controls, mooring buoys and minimum-stay permits to manage demand.
