Students file record script re-scrutiny applications after exam results
A record 4,251 students submitted re-scrutiny applications for 1,287,926 subject scripts within seven days after SSC and equivalent results, about 550,000 more than last year. Officials cited a new law that allows full re-evaluation of entire answer scripts, stricter marking, a fall in the pass rate to 62.25% from 68.45%, and the end of sympathy marks as drivers. Dhaka education board received the most applications (335,677). The education minister said the current system cannot handle this volume and promised a new policy to define which scripts will qualify for re-scrutiny.
