Egypt expands applied technology schools

Egypt announced plans to expand its applied technology school network to 225 by the start of the next academic year as part of a broader push to modernise pre-university and technical education. Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif told President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi that technical education currently serves about 2.35 million students across 3,213 specialised schools. The government signed agreements with Italy to establish 100 applied technology schools, with Germany to expand German-Egyptian technical schools and award German-accredited certificates, and with GIZ to develop and operate 38 schools, potentially changing training capacity and credentialing.
