Department orders nationwide active attack school drill
The Department of Education issued a memorandum dated 12 August directing all public and private elementary and secondary schools to hold a simultaneous active attack drill on 25 August based on each school's contingency plan. Schools must develop, review or update plans and share approved copies with local government units, the Philippine National Police and parent-teacher associations. Required measures include classroom security, family reunification areas, safe rooms, evacuation routes and emergency communications, and schools must invite at least one external evaluator from relevant agencies. Schools must activate disaster teams, prioritize safety and trauma-informed simulations, and submit post-drill documentation through DepEd's online system.
All schools must hold an active attack drill on 25 August.
Context
