Brown president Christina Paxson to step down in June 2027

Christina H. Paxson, Brown University's 19th president and the longest-serving Ivy League president, will leave in June 2027, a year earlier than her recently extended term. Paxson said the early departure is the best path as Brown prepares to begin a new multi-year strategic planning process, and the Corporation will run a national search for her successor. Her tenure included major developments such as navigating the pandemic, campus unrest, an on-campus shooting, growth of the endowment to about $8 billion, a $150 million investment in Lifespan, and a July 2025 settlement that restored federal funding while imposing federal nondiscrimination provisions.
