Cuba reports teacher shortages and limited school uniforms
Cuban authorities face significant shortfalls as the school year reopens, with Education Minister Naima Trujillo reporting 73% coverage of trained teachers and primary uniform production at about 12 percent. The government plans to enroll roughly 1.4 million students while President Díaz-Canel cited more than 1.5 million; officials will bring in university students, other professionals and some 3,000 eastern teachers to Havana, and allow extra teaching loads without detailed compensation rules.
