Man jailed for trafficking 17-year-old from Indonesia
Surya Subekti was sentenced in the NSW District Court after pleading guilty to organising the entry of a 17-year-old from Indonesia into Australia to provide sexual services and to causing her to engage in forced labour. The judge imposed a non-parole period of four years and five months, with a maximum term of six years and five months, finding he showed no genuine remorse and that the offending was planned; his earliest release date is November 2030. Co-offender Elton Valentino received two years and eight months and may be released under a five-year good-behaviour bond as early as August.
