U.S. sanctions target more than 50 linked to Jalisco cartel

The United States announced sanctions on more than 50 Mexican individuals and entities alleged to be linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), including dual national Juan Carlos Gonzalez, also known as Pelon, whom Washington says took control after the February capture and death of Nemesio Oseguera (El Mencho). The Treasury said the action targets leadership, money laundering, an alleged cocaine trafficking network and companies tied to fuel smuggling. The State Department offered up to $5 million for Gonzalez, who is charged in a U.S. federal drug case, and Treasury said the measures will disrupt CJNG activity across multiple Mexican states.
