Hackers steal data from Liechtenstein beneficial owners register

Liechtenstein authorities say an unknown attacker gained unauthorized digital access to the register of beneficial owners during the night of July 30, 2026, and stole data linked to approximately 31,000 legal entities. The register, created in 2021 to help prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, was taken offline after the breach was noticed and measures were implemented to secure data; officials report no signs that records were altered or deleted. A crisis team led by prime minister Brigitte Haas and justice minister Emanuel Schadler is investigating and will inform affected parties as soon as possible.

Data from about 31,000 legal entities was stolen.
