Court of Appeal reserves judgment on Malaysian Bar's pardon challenge

The Court of Appeal has reserved judgment after hearing the Malaysian Bar's appeal against a High Court dismissal of its leave application to judicially review the Federal Territories Pardons Board decision that halved Datuk Seri Najib Razak's sentence in the SRC International case and cut his fine. A three-judge panel chaired by Justice Lim Chong Fong heard submissions and fixed Aug 7 for case management to set a date to deliver the decision. The Bar seeks declarations that the Jan 29, 2024 reductions to Najib's prison term and fine were illegal, while the Attorney General argued the matter is non-justiciable.
