1 min read
China criticized reported US plans to restrict imports of Chinese optical transceivers and to impose additional tariffs and price controls on polysilicon, saying such measures would harm bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Beijing firmly opposes what it described as an overuse of national security concerns to target Chinese businesses and pledged to firmly protect legitimate company rights and interests. Lin warned protectionist policies would not make the US more competitive and said the reported steps would seriously disrupt normal trade between Chinese and US companies and hurt US businesses and consumers.
