Alstom and Northrail sign framework for Traxx Shunter supply
Alstom and leasing company Northrail signed a framework agreement that could cover up to 100 Traxx Shunter locomotives, with an initial firm order worth just under €100m announced at InnoTrans on September 23. The initial deal covers electro-diesel units for use in Germany and includes 10 years of maintenance, while options for further locomotives, deployment in France and up to 20 years of maintenance could raise the framework to €700m. The modular Traxx Shunter is built for shunting and main line use at up to 120 km/h, fitted with ETCS, cameras and Alstom’s HealthHub for condition-based maintenance, and diesel modules can be replaced by battery modules later.
