AMD to supply GPUs and 256-core CPUs for LUMI-AI
AMD announced that Europe’s LUMI-AI supercomputer, to be installed at the CSC facility in Kajaani, Finland and part of the EuroHPC LUMI AI Factory, will use AMD Instinct MI430X GPUs and sixth-generation EPYC processors with up to 256 cores. AMD says the system should deliver about a 10× increase in AI capacity and nearly twice the traditional HPC capability of current LUMI. The MI430X is positioned for high memory bandwidth and compute density for training, inference and scientific workloads, and the system will rely on AMD’s ROCm software stack, raising software compatibility and supply considerations.
