President Donald Trump described the confrontation with Iran as a "skirmish" while US forces began new strikes on Iranian military targets to reduce threats to civilian mariners and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth told senators the war has cost about $37.5 billion as the administration requested nearly $88 billion in supplemental emergency funding. Trump posted threats to strike Iranian bridges or power plants if Iran fires on ships, and Iran warned any attack on its infrastructure would draw a decisive response and broaden the list of targets.
