EU leader proposes associate membership for Canada
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she wants to open the door to a novel 'associate member' status for Canada, after Canadian prime minister Mark Carney sought a unique alliance with the EU. The proposal aims to create a "common prosperity and economic space" covering manufacturing, a tech alliance, defence industrial integration, the Arctic, AI, energy and critical minerals.
