Tesla ends Solar Roof production

Tesla has ended production and supply of its Solar Roof integrated tiles, notifying certified third-party installers and redirecting its consumer pages to standard solar panels. The decision follows years of production hurdles, customer disputes, retroactive 2021 price hikes that led to a $6 million class-action settlement, and major missed rollout targets. Early promises that the tiles would undercut traditional roofs were undermined by complex installations and high labor costs, and deployments totaled roughly 3,000 units over seven years versus an announced goal of 1,000 roofs per week. Tesla will now concentrate on conventional rooftop panels and residential battery storage.
