Spain's prime minister Pedro Sanchez said artificial intelligence cannot be self-regulated by its builders and presented a 12-month roadmap to support responsible deployment and economic growth. The plan includes a proposed AI gigafactory and new models developed with the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre for climate, health and energy uses, plus reinforced defensive cybersecurity measures to respond to what he called "aggressive" frontier AI models.
