SK says Ulsan AI data center expansion nears 900 megawatts
At the 2026 Ulsan Forum SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won said the planned AI data center expansion in Ulsan was nearing 900 megawatts and that talks with global technology companies are progressing quickly. SK Telecom is building the site in partnership with Amazon Web Services; it started as a 100-megawatt project and is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of next year. SK has outlined plans to expand the Ulsan site to 1 gigawatt, develop more than 2 gigawatts across nearby provinces, and pursue up to 15 gigawatts nationwide, an effort that the group estimated would cost about 7 trillion won and will require stable power and sustainable business models.
