Nevada approves permits letting Tesla, Uber and Waymo run robotaxis
Nevada regulators unanimously granted permits allowing Tesla to deploy up to 5,000 paid robotaxis in Clark County over the next year and cleared Waymo and Uber for 1,000 vehicles each, a combined ceiling of 8,000. Tesla told the board the 5,000 figure is a ceiling and expects roughly 2,500 in year one, while Uber will route Motional and Zoox vehicles through its app rather than operate its own fleet. The decision reverses an earlier, much smaller Tesla permit and drew objections from local livery operators who raised safety and pacing concerns during the hearing.
