Dubai opens autonomous vehicle testing facility
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority opened Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis, a testing ground that offers 248 scenarios across controlled environments and public roads to evaluate autonomous vehicles. The site includes a multi-purpose area with 195 city-street situations (143 original plus 52 later additions), test tracks, offices, three light-industrial units and three 60kW chargers, and will be operated by DEKRA for three years. Early trials involved WeRide, Pony.ai and Tesla, and the lab is intended to speed testing, certification and commercial rollout toward Dubai's 25 percent autonomous journeys by 2030.
