Apple unveils watch AI features and new Series 12 watches
At the September event Apple highlighted watchOS 27 and new Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 hardware that embed Apple Intelligence. watchOS 27 brings an Audio Intelligence suite with sound recognition, automatic Shazam, Live Rewind that recovers the previous 15 seconds of speech, and Siri Recap. Fitness and health features include Workout Buddy, a Readiness score combining activity, sleep and vitals, and a Health Sensing System sampling heart rate every five seconds and HRV as often as every five minutes. Apple also described vision-based assessments using the iPhone camera plus watch data, and said audio is processed inside a Secure Enclave on the S11 chip.
