Apple to unveil smart-home hub with new Siri on Oct. 13
Apple plans to unveil a new smart-home display hub, internally code-named J490, on Oct. 13, marking the company's first major hardware expansion under CEO John Ternus. The roughly 6-inch square hub will use built-in facial and voice recognition to show personalized contacts, messages, calendars, notes and app layouts, and will include a visitor mode to hide personal info. Apple will also refresh the HomePod mini and update its Apple TV with faster processors to run on-device Siri AI models that underpin the company's broader artificial intelligence ambitions and test its living-room strategy against established rivals.
