Pietersen returns as England white-ball specialist mentor
The England and Wales Cricket Board has appointed Kevin Pietersen as a specialist mentor for the men's white-ball teams, a 15-month role focused on preparing the squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Pietersen will join Brendon McCullum's side for the September Sri Lanka T20I and ODI series, travel with England on winter tours to Australia and South Africa, and return for home series against Pakistan and New Zealand. The former England captain, who last played for the national team in 2014, brings extensive white-ball experience and prior mentoring in the 2025 IPL.
