Consortium confirms bid to host F1 Grand Prix in Swartland
A private consortium called Blue Mountain Racing, chaired by Neal Froneman, has formally declared its intention to bring a Formula 1 Grand Prix to a 600-hectare Swartland site by 2031, with Rothschild & Co. appointed as financial adviser. The proposed FIA Grade 1 circuit would hold more than 120,000 spectators and include a conference centre, hospitality, residential developments, an automotive engineering and testing hub, and training for 700–1,000 local marshals. The bid has provincial government support and contacts with Formula 1 and MotoGP, and arrives as Africa remains the only continent without a current Grand Prix.
