NASA releases 12,217 Artemis II mission photographs

NASA released 12,217 photographs from the April 1–10, 2026 Artemis II mission, giving the public views of the Moon, Earth, the Orion spacecraft and a solar eclipse seen from lunar space. The collection includes rare far side imagery captured near the terminator showing craters, ridges and ancient lava flows, color variations on the surface, and a photo of Earth behind a crescent Moon. One long exposure recorded star trails while Orion rotated. Artemis II reached about 252,760 miles from Earth and splashed down April 10, and the images could support scientific study and Artemis III planning.
