United States to host Israel-Lebanon talks in Rome

The State Department confirmed that US-brokered technical talks between Israel and Lebanon will meet in Rome from August 4 to August 6 to advance implementation of a framework agreement signed last month. The teams will focus on expanding the pilot zone process, resolving outstanding border issues and working toward a comprehensive peace and security agreement, the department said. The Israel Defense Forces carried out a first withdrawal from a pilot zone last week, while Beirut has accused Jerusalem of hampering Lebanese Armed Forces operations there; the State Department says the power transfer is going well and the administration is committed to success.

Technical teams will meet in Rome August 4–6 to implement the framework.
