The Nigeria Police Force publicly confirmed 30 alleged politically motivated killings ahead of the Aug. 15 governorship election in Osun state, the force public relations officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, said on Channel TV. He said a few arrests have been made, some suspects were paraded, and some have been charged in court, but details were withheld as sub judice. The inspector general of police, Olatunji Disu, visited Osogbo, met stakeholders, warned against violence, and ordered tracking, arrest and prosecution of suspects while deploying specialised units, drones and helicopters to improve intelligence.
