Matlala testimony postponed to September amid plea-deal dispute
Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala's scheduled testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has been postponed to September 1 after his lawyer applied for a delay to obtain negotiation notes from the Independent Directorate Against Corruption and recordings cited by prior witnesses. Matlala is linked to an irregular R228 million SAPS health and wellness tender awarded to Medicare24 Tshwane District and had entered guilty pleas to fraud, corruption and money laundering before withdrawing from a collapsed plea agreement after a magistrate revised the proposed sentence.
