Fire damages Starlink ground station in central Poland
A fire on Wednesday evening hit a ground-based Starlink gateway in Wola Krobowska, about 40 kilometers south of Warsaw, damaging the station's power plant and generator and briefly cutting its internet connections for several organizations, including parts of the Ukrainian military. The facility is operated by state-owned Exatel; Poland's deputy prime minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the incident was likely sabotage and that the site has since resumed operations. Local police and national agencies ABW and CBŚP were notified and are investigating, while Poland is pursuing its own satellite program after signing a letter of intent with PGZ and ICEYE.
