China warns off Philippine planes over Huangyan Island
China's People's Liberation Army said it mobilized naval and air forces to monitor and warn off three Philippine planes that it says illegally entered its territorial airspace over Huangyan Island. Senior Colonel Li Jianjian said an Islander, a C-208 and a PA-31T were tracked, radio-warned and monitored in line with laws and regulations. The PLA accused the Philippine side of violating China's sovereignty and demanded that the flights stop, saying such actions could easily cause misunderstandings and miscalculations, while pledging to remain on high alert to defend sovereignty and regional stability.
