Survodutide meets co-primary endpoints in phase 3 trial
FierceBiotech - free daily biotech briefing
An international phase 3 trial, Synchronize-2, randomized 755 adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes to weekly survodutide or placebo and met both co-primary endpoints at week 76, including mean weight loss of 13.1% on the high dose and 79.3% of treated patients achieving at least 5% weight loss versus 32.7% for placebo. A different primary assessment produced smaller mean losses (9.8% versus 3.9%), and synchronise-2 showed tolerability issues with 39% vomiting and 26% discontinuations; the trial also recorded a 1.21% HbA1c decline. Analysts flagged competitiveness concerns and Zealand Pharma shares fell after the readout, while earlier Synchronize-1 data pointed to substantial liver fat reductions.
