Government says over 40,000 food samples non-conforming in 2025-26
The government told Parliament that 223,808 food samples were analysed in 2025-26 and 40,023 samples, including beverages and caffeinated drinks, were found non-conforming. Authorities recorded 1,918 criminal convictions and 31,878 civil penalties for food safety violations, while the figures remain provisional pending further laboratory testing and court proceedings.
