Dolly Parton musical to open on Broadway in January
Dolly: A True Original Musical will begin previews at the St. James Theatre on Dec. 7 ahead of a Jan. 19 opening night that also marks Dolly Parton's 81st birthday. The biography-style show, which premiered in Nashville in July 2025, features Parton's well-known songs such as "I Will Always Love You," "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors" and "9 to 5," along with new songs she wrote for the production; Parton co-wrote the book with Maria S. Schlatter and Bartlett Sher directs. Casting will be announced later, and the production takes over the St. James after Titanique ends in September.
Broadway previews begin Dec. 7 with opening on Jan. 19.
