University of Michigan selects C. Cybele Raver as president
The University of Michigan Board of Regents named Dr. C. Cybele Raver, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University, as its choice to become the university's 17th president, pending a formal vote on Sept. 1 and an expected Dec. 1 start. The board highlighted Raver's record in strengthening research and academics, noting Vanderbilt surpassed $1 billion in annual research expenditures, she recruited eight new deans, launched a new college and expanded Vanderbilt's footprint to several U.S. cities. Current president Domenico Grasso will lead through Nov. 30 and work with Raver on the transition.
