UC academic council orders review of SAT and course requirements

7 min read

The University of California Academic Council directed the system admissions board to review whether to reinstate SAT or ACT testing and to reevaluate the A-G high school course requirements that determine eligibility for UC and CSU. The admissions board will study testing first, reporting to the council by Feb. 12, 2027, with a regents vote on tests by June 2027; an initial report on course requirements is due May 2027. The review covers 15 yearlong courses across seven areas, will consult K-12 experts, and could reshape math and other curriculum expectations for California college-bound students.

UC will review SAT use and its A-G course requirements.
