Pakistan and US renew five-year higher education partnership
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) renewed a five-year agreement for FY2026-27 through FY2031-32 to support Fulbright master's and PhD programmes, visiting scholars, FLTA and Humphrey fellowships. The plan targets support for 66 PhD scholars and commits at least $4.54 million annually, capped at Rs6.48 billion over five years, with staged payments subject to timely government release and reinvested interest for student grants. Selection remains merit-based, HEC will join selection panels, and a joint review committee will meet twice yearly to review performance and ensure transparency.
