Canada funds national AI literacy training
The federal government announced a $13 million national AI literacy initiative led by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), launched Sept. 9, to deliver free training for up to one million post-secondary students and more than 50,000 K-12 educators. Amii will offer three streams: a three-hour essentials course for students in English and French, classroom-ready modules for K-12 teachers with chapters starting Sept. 21, and a community-facing essentials for Canadians later this year. The program sits alongside other training directories and follows recent provincial and national AI investments, but its actual reach and effectiveness depend on institutional uptake.

Context
The government released a national AI for All strategy in June. Amii received $50 million from Alberta in July. Schools can sign on from Sept. 21 and community delivery will come later this year.
