US sanctions digital asset exchanges and network aiding Iran
The US imposed sanctions on six entities and one individual it says operated a multinational digital asset network that moved millions to Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Treasury named Siavash Kayvanpour as the operator of Shelbit, which allegedly routed more than $2 million to IRGC addresses and sent funds to the Iran exchange Nobitex; OFAC also sanctioned Aban Tether. The State Department tied the action to recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and said the steps aim to deny Iran resources used for regional threats, terrorism and its nuclear activities, while the Rewards for Justice offers up to $15 million.
