Bitdeer signs colocation lease for Norway ai data center

Bitdeer Technologies Group has executed a colocation lease at its Tydal facility in Norway to host what is expected to be the country's largest ai data center, with planned capacity of 180–225 MW and a focus on NVIDIA hardware. The tenant is reportedly Volta, a startup said to be valued at $2.4 billion, though Bitdeer has not publicly confirmed the partner or valuation and final commercial terms are still pending. Construction is handled by Data Center Installations AS under a March 2026 agreement, and the site targets completion as early as December 2026, representing a strategic shift from bitcoin mining to longer-term colocation revenue.
