Poland charges former BitBay partner in Zondacrypto probe
Polish prosecutors detained Roman Ż. on Sept. 5 and charged him with participation in an organized criminal group and misappropriation of 7.8 million zlotys, roughly $2.1 million, in customer funds. The arrest is at least the fifth since authorities merged the Zondacrypto investigation with the inquiry into missing founder Sylwester Suszek. Zondacrypto stopped trading after frozen withdrawals, and prosecutors estimate at least 350 million zlotys (about $94 million) in customer losses with more than 3,600 complaints by June. Investigators are probing alleged fraud, money laundering, frozen bank assets and an Estonian operator's bankruptcy.
