Scam gang rented Bangkok mansion to defraud people in Japan
Thai immigration police arrested 15 people at a rented mansion in Bang Bon district used as a call centre to defraud people in Japan. The property on Soi Ekachai 112 was rented for 900,000 baht a month by a Chinese man via a Thai nominee and is valued at over 200 million baht. Callers used scripted first calls and video calls with fake Japanese police uniforms and identity cards to persuade victims to transfer money for "checking." Police seized computers, phones and drugs, are monitoring border crossings, and have charged suspects with working without permits and transnational fraud.
