Ontario police seize nearly 1.7 tonnes of drugs, arrest 19

Ontario authorities executed an intelligence-led cross-border investigation codenamed Project Bay that dismantled an alleged drug trafficking network using commercial transport routes. Police arrested 19 people, with two suspects remaining at large, and executed 22 search warrants in multiple Ontario communities. Officers seized about 973 kg of cocaine, 660 kg of methamphetamine, 49 kg of opium, 230 oxycodone tablets, 17 firearms, CAD 80,000 and USD 10,000, high-end jewellery, phones, laptops and a vehicle. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of roughly CAD 139 million (about USD 97 million), a major disruption to the cross-border flow of illegal drugs.
