Lagos police uncover suspected counterfeit drug distribution network

Lagos state police say operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested two men after intelligence led to raids on warehouses where suspected adulterated pharmaceutical products were being repackaged for distribution. Officers recovered about 300 cartons of suspected adulterated omeprazole, multiple bags of unpackaged drugs including viagra and ampiclox, a truck loaded with products, and over 300 empty printed packs and cartons. Preliminary inquiries allege the syndicate operated for more than two years with some consignments destined for Lomé, Togo; police handed suspects, exhibits and the case file to NAFDAC for further testing and regulatory action.
