Stellantis signs MoU to potentially sell Brampton plant
Stellantis said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canadian armoured vehicle maker Roshel on a potential sale of its idled Brampton assembly plant, which has been idle since 2023. Unifor, the union representing Stellantis workers in Canada, paused contract talks citing an impasse centered on Brampton and concerns about wages, pensions and benefits; the current collective agreement expires Sept. 20. Stellantis says Roshel could restore sustainable operations, while the union notes halted retooling, the transfer of Jeep Compass production to the U.S., and over 2,000 layoffs as immediate consequences of the dispute.
