Indonesia starts construction of Makassar Strait North Hub
Indonesia has begun construction work on the Makassar Strait North Hub, a US$15 billion national strategic project led by Searah, a joint venture of Eni and Petronas. The program includes a US$3 billion FPSO named Bahtera Haluan Lestari designed to process up to 1 billion standard cubic feet per day and 80,000 barrels of condensate per day, with 1.4 million barrels storage capacity, operating in waters up to 2,000 meters. First gas is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2028, topside fabrication is centered at Saipem yard in Tanjung Balai Karimun, and the build is expected to create about 8,000 local jobs.
